As the students are maturing, in both the sense of responsibility and intellect, it’s important to set a specific career goal because the choices made now will reflect how successful the future will be.
My career potentials wonder all over the place but I have set a specific goal which I’m trying to strive for. I want to major in languages and become a foreign language professor at a university. Being fluent in Russian is a major benefit I have because that eliminates one of the languages I have to learn. In order to not lose my native language, I make sure to speak it at home and visit my family in Russia every summer. Studying at Saint Petersburg College (SPC), I will need to take education classes along with Spanish classes since I’m trying to excel in as many languages as possible. Being multi-lingual opens up many opportunities. If everything turns out well, I want to work as the translator for the CIA. |
I will strive to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures by majoring in Duel Languages at the University of Florida. The two languages I would like to dedicate my time and effort to are Arabic and Mandarin. Being already fluent in three languages, Russian, English, and Portuguese, I want to widen my opportunities for future job openings by learning other languages and becoming fluent in them as well.
In order to teach, I definitely need a state or nation certification which requires a student teaching experience. In order to receive that, I will invest my time in multiple internships and travel the world in hopes of understanding the culture of the language I will teach. I will be a perfect fit in this position and future job because I'm very passionate about traveling and learning about different cultures. During my gap year, I decided to partake in a wonderful program Rotary Youth Exchange in which students get to learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens. |
